( TRANSLATION) From my mother to my daughter, before me, after me— of us, what will remain? Of the freedom to be, to travel, to create and the regrets of being limited, objectified, abused, because we are women.
My mother taught me the spiritual, the visible and the invisible, breath and silence, the genderless soul and spirit. My daughter teaches me that the freedom, the beauty, the light I have known and claimed are still, always, the target of predators.
How could I not protect her? How could I not eradicate them?
While my passage is but a grain of sand in the universe, she, my daughter, reminds me of my birth through her refusal to be victimized. Her strength, her light, alive a thousand times over, recall those of my mother, illuminate my passage and bring me back to today, to what I do not see that I am, to what she is: a force of life. From my mother to my daughter— eternity.
