Salvete! As 2020-2021 VJCL Secretary, my main duty is to take minutes. This means I have to write notes at every important meeting. I publish the minutes I take of Council meetings, VJCL Convention meetings, and VJCL fellowship meetings at NJCL convention. The minutes that I don’t publish are shared with the other officers in case they could not make it to the meeting, or forgot what was discussed. If I am not able to attend a meeting, another officer may take the minutes.
Salvete, omnes! I am Elissa Press, the 2020-21 VJCL Parliamentarian! As a Parli I have three main responsibilities. The first is to manage the VJCL Constitution and Manual which both serve as rules and procedure documents for the VJCL as a whole. If someone wants to amend (change) the constitution, the Parli has to aid in the process! The second role is to serve as one of the VJCL's voting delegates at the summer NJCL convention. Along with the VJCL President, the Parli serves as Virginia's vote for the NJCL officer elections. The final (and my personal favorite) part of being the VJCL Parli is getting to run the VJCL elections in the fall at the VJCL convention. This is my favorite part of my office because I get to meet the future leaders of the VJCL! Will you be a future VJCL officer?
