As the VJCL 1st Vice President, my duties revolve around promoting membership in the VJCL for prospective chapters. In the Constitution, the 1st VP is responsible for contacting current, previous, and prospective members of the VJCL and encouraging their involvement in the VJCL. Additionally, the 1st VP manages the social media accounts, organizes entries to the NJCL Membership Contest, and runs the statewide publicity contest during the Fall Latin Convention.
While this may seem like a fairly basic set of responsibilities, the position of 1st VP is unique, and I’d argue the best position, due to its open-endedness and the opportunity it gives for creativity. Promoting membership doesn’t have one set way to do it. During my term of office, I’ve been able to reinstate the membership committee, run several various events with my fellow officers such as the VJCL movie nights, and organize the first ever VJCL Spring Classics Day. Despite these all seeming different, they all have had the same goal of promoting VJCL membership across the state.

Salvete! I am Lucy Dasher, your 2020-2021 VJCL 2nd Vice President! As the 2nd Vice President, I get to manage all the super fun aspects of the VJCL: spirit and service! Throughout my term, I’ve ran successful service projects that help give back to the community. I also come up with cheers with my fellow officers and run the spirit department of the VJCL at nationals! Like past 2nd VPs before me, I pulled out another spirit win for VA! My favorite part of being 2nd VP is being able to take my enthusiasm and hard work into our service and spirit events!
