A healthy heart is a lot to be thankful for.

Little things like stress, lack of excercise, and too much caffeine can lead to an unhappy heart in the long run. Well, I think I pretty much described the formula of an average college students life.

As students we are always in a rush to get to class, work, a family thing, or virtually anything, on time. Being proactive about our heart health can help us avoid any issues down the line.

You might be thinking "who has time to think about that?" or "I'm young it doesn't matter now," but it does matter.

In fact, it doen't even have to be hard to keep your heart happy.

Whether it be for 5 minutes or 5 seconds, a quick stretch-session upon waking up is proven to put you more at ease throughout the day. A body at ease means a heart at ease.

2. Don't salt your foods

As college students it may be hard to avoid salt because it is found in almost everything that is easy to make. Instead, avoid adding additional flakes to your food or opt for the reduced-sodium versions of your favorite fast foods.

3. Snack on walnuts

It is as simple as grabbing a handful a day. Walnuts are a key nutrient for a happy heart and incorporating them into your diet is easy. Leave them in a jar or as is on your kitchen counter. Get crafty by baking them into your favorite food!
