Hear the word of God

Jerome lives in Kerala , India and is thrilled by the solarpowered audio Bible he received from our team recently in addition to a wheelchair . Jerome is 51 and has been disabled since birth – a disability that affects both of his legs and one of his hands .
These amazing audio Bibles mean that the word of God can be listened to in the local language by people who otherwise may not be able to read a printed Bible due to disability or lack of education .
Jerome regularly listens to his audio Bible . When asked what his favourite part of the Bible is , he replied , “ The sacrifice of Jesus for the sins we have done .” Jerome told us that one of the best things about the audio Bible is , “ It is not only me who hears the message – I am able to share with others too . Others are also able to hear the message with me .” As Jerome listens to the Bible , he says that 3 or 4 others also hear the Scriptures .
Jerome is extremely grateful . Thanks to his new wheelchair , Jerome is also able to go out , and he goes to church every Sunday and plays instruments at church . He tries to encourage others . He says he is happy with who he is , he is not complaining . He is using his ability to encourage others . He says , “ When the judgement comes , if God asks me what I did on the earth , I can say that I have done these things .”
Could you help others like Jerome to hear the Word of God by using our donation form ( enclosed ) to sponsor an audio Bible for £ 21 ?
Jerome is blessed and blesses others while listening to his audio Bible .

Ask and you shall receive

A United Reformed church in Cambridge showed that fundraising doesn ’ t have to be complicated , raising over £ 2000 for Through the Roof . Downing Place URC Cambridge , nominated TTR as a Special Cause for one month and simply invited the congregation to donate what they could that month . Matthew 7:77 tells us to “ Ask and it will be given to you ”, and God will provide . He certainly did !
Members of the church responded generously to the invitation , which was printed in the church newsletter , along with information about the work of TTR in the UK and overseas . There was also a collection plate at the door at the end of their carol service in 2023 , for a retiring collection in aid of TTR , with a representative of Through the Roof there to thank people . So we know that small requests can make a big difference in transforming lives !
The gifts of money the congregation have generated will bring freedom to many people living with disability , providing mobility equipment in developing countries , and changing attitudes world-wide , so disabled people are valued and able to use their own gifts and abilities to bless their communities .
We are so grateful for the generosity of those who donate to TTR , and also to those who give their time to support the work . Fundraising has three blessings – it blesses the giver , it raises money , and it spreads awareness of what God is doing through TTR . We pray that God will give us
Downing Place URC , Cambridge , kept fundraising simple .
the boldness to ‘ just ask ’ and invite you to join us on this journey of disability inclusion .
