SHINING A LIGHT ON BALTIMORE

Visit Baltimore ’ s communications team has been hard at work spreading the good news about Charm City to local , national , international and trade media . This past year we organized multiple media FAM ( familiarization ) tours for journalists , hosted a travel trade media dinner in New York City and engaged a new PR agency to take our efforts to new heights .
BRINGING A TASTE OF BALTIMORE TO NYC
In May , the Visit Baltimore communications team hosted a private New York media dinner in partnership with Sagamore Spirit at the Pendry Manhattan West hotel , located between the new Moynihan Train Hall and the revitalized Hudson Yards neighborhood . More than 20 travel and spirit industry editors and freelance writers attended the occasion , representing top tier publications such as Travel + Leisure , Forbes , Lonely Planet , USA Today , AFAR , INSIDER , Southern Living , The Points Guy , Medium and Thrillist .
SHOWING OFF BALTIMORE PRIDE
Visit Baltimore hosted LGBTQ + beat writers for a VIP experience at the 147th Preakness Stakes and to conduct research for stories to build awareness and excitement around Baltimore Pride in June . Writers who attended contribute to a variety of publications including Vice , WIRED , Queer Forty , LA Blade , NBC Out , Giddy and Chicago Tribune . This media tour was planned in partnership with The Stronach Group and their talented PR agency The Brand Guild , and featured meetings with local LGBTQ + leaders Kenneth Morrison and Unique Robinson to share their perspectives on LGBTQ + life in Baltimore along with queer-friendly spaces . Industry partners who participated in the FAM included the Canopy Hotel , Cindy Lou ’ s Fish House , Baltimore Museum of Art and Baltimore Heritage ’ s Johns Hopkins who provided valuable information on Baltimore ’ s LGBTQ + heritage and landmarks .
