CLIL, Wellbeing and Multilingualism: A Powerful Alliance by Romina Marchesani
Introduction After nearly three decades in the classroom, I have come to understand that teaching is never just about textbooks or tests. It is about people. It is about stories, relationships, emotions, and the deep human need to belong, to be noticeably understood, and to express oneself.
The most powerful teaching moments I have experienced did not happen in silence during a grammar exercise. They happened in laughter shared in the classroom but across languages, in shy eyes lighting up when a student realised their voice mattered, in the quiet confidence of a learner who finally felt seen.
Over the years, my practice has evolved into a blend of CLIL( Content and Language Integrated Learning), wellbeing principles, and a commitment to multilingualism that I now consider foundational. These are not strategies I picked from a handbook. They grew from lived experience, from trial and error, from listening carefully to my students, and from being part of vibrant professional communities like our Multilingualism eTwinning Featured Group on the European School Education Platform.
