National Values in the Colours of Traditional Costumes by Paula Miron

In the 2024-2025 school year I participated in the eTwinning project“ National Values in the Colours of Traditional Costumes”. It was a new experience for both me and my students.
The project’ s educational objectives were: 1. Knowledge of cultural diversity – Students learned about the traditions and clothing customs of different countries of the world. 2. Development of respect for other cultures – The project promoted tolerance and openness towards other peoples. 3. Improvement of communication skills – Students presented their chosen country to their classmates, describing the folk costumes. 4. Stimulation of creativity – They made collages, drawings or small multimedia presentations about traditional costumes. 5. Teamwork and individual responsibility – Each student or group had a clear task, contributing to the realization of the common project.
The pedagogical approaches used were:
• Discovery learning – Students researched on their own( with the support of the teacher) information about the folk costumes of a chosen country.
• Integrated learning – The project included elements from geography, history, visual arts and foreign languages.
• Active learning – Practical activities( drawings, collages, presentations) helped students to actively engage in the educational process.
• Use of technology – Students used the internet for documentation and made digital presentations.
Methods used to engage very young students For primary or preschool students, we used methods adapted to their age and level of understanding: 1. Stories and tales – We presented them with legends or short folk tales from the respective countries, related to traditional clothing.
