Empowering eTwinning Schools through School-based Study Groups by Marisa Badini

Being one of the 12 Pilot teachers , I coordinated the Study Group at Ottavo Circolo Piacenza , Italy .
To define a realistic Action Plan , the PILOT GROUP members from different Countries were guided to consider the context and the school needs thinking about : * the format ( webinars & short courses , MOOCs ) and topic of training , making sense in the school context ; * who they had to talk to for getting started and who they could team up with for support ; * what were the existing infrastructures at school to be used ; * what was a realistic but still ambitious challenge in the school context ; * how to evaluate the success of the actions ; * how the eTwinning / SEG team could support .
The Context
What are School-Based Study Groups ? School-based study groups consist of a group of teachers at school who meet up to participate together in online teacher professional development activities . The aim of the group is for teachers to support and motivate each other so as to benefit from online professional development opportunities .
