What Comes Next A community like this one is never finished. What I have learned most clearly this year is that engagement is not a destination— it is something you tend to, the way you tend to a garden. Some things bloom quickly. Others need a second season.
Going forward, I want to keep the focus on the classroom: on activities that are practical, on conversations that are honest, and on connections that cross subject lines and national borders. I want more teachers to feel that sustainability is not an extra subject sitting outside their curriculum, but something woven through everything they already do— including, yes, mathematics.
If this past year has shown me anything, it is that teachers, given the right space and the right support, will surprise you every time.
Anita Simac is a mathematics teacher at Osnovna skola Petra Preradovica in Croatia, an eTwinning Ambassador, and a Scientix Ambassador. She moderates the eTwinning Featured Group " Learning for Sustainability and Green Skills " and integrates cross-curricular STEAM and sustainability approaches into her everyday teaching practice.
eTwinning Groups as Vibrant Professional Learning Communities by Eszter Kovács
The academic year 2025 / 2026 brought new opportunities for my professional development. To support my growth as an educator, I created a personal learning path tailored to my interests and professional needs. It included participation in a project, active engagement in eTwinning groups, completion of two MOOCs, and the process of identifying needs, designing a project, and finding suitable partners.
In this article, I focus on my participation in two eTwinning groups: Health and Wellbeing in Education and Digital Skills for Pupils and Teachers, including Artificial Intelligence and SELFIE Tools. Both groups provided valuable learning opportunities, practical resources, and examples of good practice. Through my participation, I gained new insights into promoting wellbeing in education and developing digital competences for both teachers and pupils.
Let me present my ten-month learning journey in more detail. My main objectives were to enhance my digital teaching skills, develop digital wellbeing awareness, improve my collaboration and communication competences, and reflect on my professional practice.
