The second project, " Green Roots, Blue Drops ", took water as its central thread. Students investigated where water goes, how little of it is truly available for human use, and how everyday habits in their own homes and communities either protect or deplete it.
Working in international teams across TwinSpace, they researched water ecosystems, proposed conservation solutions, and built shared digital resources with partner schools. They collaborated with universities from Athens and Zadar, learning about the Blue School concept, wellbeing and self-regulation.
An example of a moment that has stayed with me happened during one of our online collaboration sessions. A student from my class— eleven years old, not a confident English speaker by any measure— was explaining to a partner school why the way we water school gardens matters for local groundwater. She had prepared. She had facts. She spoke slowly and carefully and meant every word. Her partner school listened. That is the moment I hold onto when the work feels hard: not the polished final product, but the point where a student discovers that what she knows is worth sharing across a border.
