Professional Learning Dimension The professional learning dimension investigates how the community contributes to collaboration, peer learning, knowledge exchange and teacher empowerment.
The community is analysed as a digital educational ecosystem rather than simply as a social media group.
Developmental Stages From 2012 to 2014, during its foundation stage, teachers and supporters of eTwinning created the community and developed its initial communication networks. Between 2015 and 2018, the community entered an expansion stage marked by membership growth, more frequent searches for project partners and increased sharing of educational practices. From 2019 to 2022, the consolidation stage strengthened professional interaction and the dissemination of digital resources and training opportunities. Between 2023 and 2026, the community developed into a mature professional network characterised by large-scale participation, continuous collaboration and support for new eTwinners.
Content Analysis of the Community The eTwinning Greece Community includes a wide range of educational
content reflecting teachers’ professional needs.
The community’ s content reflects several closely connected professional functions. Project collaboration includes partner searches and project proposals, thereby helping to create European partnerships, while project dissemination through presentations, awards and Quality Labels enables members to share successful practices. Professional-development content includes webinars, seminars and conferences that support lifelong learning, and posts about digital tools introduce platforms, applications and ICT resources that help teachers develop digital competence.
Educational announcements provide information about European initiatives and competitions. Peer-support exchanges take the form of questions, advice and discussions that encourage collaborative learning, while shared classroom practices include activities and teaching ideas that promote innovation. Information about Erasmus + opportunities further strengthens international networking and European cooperation.
The Community as a Professional Learning Network The eTwinning Greece Facebook Community demonstrates several characteristics of an effective Professional Learning Network. Members share knowledge by exchanging educational materials, experiences and project ideas. They engage in peer learning through informal interaction with colleagues. Participation also contributes to the
