The statistical data contained in the eTwinning RO12 preliminary report confirm – in my view – that eTwinning users perceive this integrated approach to key competences through the activities conducted on the portal. According to the eTwinning 2012 preliminary report produced by TEHNE – Center for Innovation in Education, regarding the role of educational projects carried out through international school partnerships, the primary purpose of using the eTwinning portal remains the interest in creating educational projects based on international partnerships. and social skills and competencies. eTwinning projects foster digital literacy in a broad sense – encompassing responsible, creative, and collaborative digital participation alongside the technical use of technology – and require students to plan activities, solve problems, and make independent decisions regarding their collaborative work. The digital transition is rapidly transforming every aspect of life, with current demands necessitating the acquisition of new digital skills and competencies.
Education plays a pivotal role in this process by facilitating digital literacy and providing a " moral compass " for navigating the online environment, thereby enabling students to interact online in a productive and mutually beneficial manner. Teachers deliberately design tasks to encourage student initiative, asking participants to propose ideas, negotiate solutions, and assume responsibilities within their groups.
The convergence of competencies brought to the process and the nature of mediated collaboration drive innovation. The inclusion of a feedback loop illustrates how the success of project activities, in turn, reinforces the creative capacity of both teachers and students. eTwinning projects are carried out between two or more schools, focusing on specific subjects or adopting a transdisciplinary approach. Participation in eTwinning projects fosters the development of our students ' linguistic, digital, interpersonal, civic, intercultural,
eTwinning functions as a mechanism for continuous professional development, fostering reflective pedagogical practice, the dissemination of effective teaching strategies, and the adoption of innovative methods such as project-based learning, " flipped classroom " approaches, and blended learning.
