Artificial intelligence as a collaborative tool Artificial intelligence provides practical solutions that make collaboration easier and more engaging. Children can express their ideas through drawings, songs, conversations, and storytelling, while AI applications help transform these creative products into shared learning experiences.
A meaningful example of artificial intelligence as an educational opportunity is the eTwinning project Little Minds, Big Ideas with AI. Throughout this project, artificial intelligence does not replace children ' s imagination— it supports and enhances it. The project brought together more than 150 children from preschools and primary schools on both sides of the Prut River, Republic of Moldova and Romania, creating a unique environment for creativity, collaboration, and intercultural learning.
Children draw, sing, tell stories, and express their ideas, while AI-powered tools transform these experiences into engaging, interactive, and collaborative learning opportunities. One remarkable example was the " Spring of Love " activity, organized in March. Children worked in international teams composed of partners from different countries to create digital greeting cards celebrating spring and love for mothers. The activity was divided into two stages. The first team designed the basic greeting card using digital tools such as Canva AI, ChatGPT, and Gemini, generating concept
and the greeting message. The partner team then completed the card by adding artistic elements and creative details.
One of the most interesting moments occurred when children suggested words and ideas while AI generated rhyming verses. They did not simply accept every suggestion. Instead, they carefully evaluated the generated text, noticing that some words, such as amber, were too complex for their age. In other cases, AI referred to Mother ' s Day celebrations held in November in some countries, while the project focused on the March celebration. Together with their teachers, the children discussed these differences and proposed more appropriate vocabulary and expressions. This demonstrated that AI served as a creative assistant rather than an author, while the children remained active decision-makers throughout the creative process.
