The English Language Teaching course is grounded in the principles of the humanistic-affective approach and follows the European recommendations on multilingual and communicative competence. It aims to develop student teachers ' ability to plan effective English learning experiences that respond to children ' s diverse educational needs. Particular attention is given to differentiated instruction, age-appropriate methodologies, classroom interaction, and project-based learning.
A distinctive feature of the project is its international dimension. Through the European School Education Platform( ESEP) and eTwinning, university students collaborate with peers from partner European universities to design educational projects that are subsequently implemented in preschool and primary school classrooms. This collaborative process allows future teachers to experience authentic international teamwork while improving their English language proficiency, intercultural awareness, digital competence and collaborative planning skills. implemented by partner teachers, who adapt them to their classrooms and actively involve children in meaningful learning experiences. This close collaboration enables pre-service teachers to observe how theoretical planning can be transformed into authentic classroom practice.
Storytelling as a pedagogical approach for language learning Storytelling has been widely recognized as one of the most effective approaches to language learning( Bruner, 1996). Stories expose children to vocabulary, grammatical structures and communicative functions naturally, allowing language acquisition to occur through comprehension, interaction and repeated exposure rather than through isolated exercises.
Within the project, storytelling serves as the starting point for a wide range of interdisciplinary activities that extend well beyond reading. Children participate in drama, music, visual arts, movement, creative writing and digital storytelling activities that reinforce language learning through multiple modes of expression. This multimodal approach enables pupils with different learning styles to participate actively while developing listening, speaking, reading and early writing skills.
