secondary students within the transnational teams then voted collaboratively to select one drawing to be included in the final output. This created a meaningful dialogue between age groups and combined scientific interpretation with imaginative representation.
Curriculum integration and learning outcomes Curriculum integration varied across schools but consistently supported interdisciplinary learning. Science provided the methodological framework supported by authentic data and scientific protocols. Mathematics and statistics were essential for data analysis and interpretation. English functioned as the shared language of international collaboration, giving students authentic communicative purposes and a real audience.
For all our students this was their first experience of using digital tools and English in a sustained international learning context, contributing to the development of both digital and
communicative competences. Rather than operating as an extracurricular initiative, we embedded the project within regular curricular structures in all partner schools, ensuring alignment with national frameworks and long-term feasibility.
Dissemination, reflection and professional growth We embedded dissemination from the outset of the project design. Each partner school shared activities and outcomes through institutional channels, including websites, presentations and, in some cases, local media. At partnership level, we produced a project magazine bringing together student outputs, infographics, feedback and teacher reflections, offering a coherent overview of the learning process.
We systematically collected student perceptions through a final survey, providing structured insight into engagement and learning outcomes. For some partners, this project also represented a first experience with eTwinning, and we supported one another through ongoing technical and organisational guidance, fostering peer mentoring within the consortium.
Over time, we experienced the collaboration as a cohesive professional community characterised by shared responsibility and continuous dialogue. As external recognition of its quality and impact, Under the Same Sky was selected as a winning project in the STEM Discovery Campaign 2026 in the Citizen Science category, confirming the educational value of our approach to
