geographical and contextual barriers, and that the night sky remains a shared space of knowledge and connection.
Organisation and distributed leadership We designed the partnership organisation to support both scientific rigour and pedagogical balance. Communication among teachers combined formal and informal channels: TwinSpace served as the central platform for documentation and dissemination, while shared documents, email and messaging tools supported day-to-day coordination. We complemented this with regular online meetings, particularly around key milestones and deadlines, which allowed us to align progress, address challenges and refine next steps collaboratively.
We distributed responsibilities according to experience and pedagogical roles. More experienced colleagues took responsibility for key organisational and technical tasks, including the development and maintenance of TwinSpace pages and the documentation of online activities. At the same time, each secondary school teacher coordinated one transnational infographic team, supporting students in data analysis and in transforming scientific findings into coherent visual representations. This distributed model of leadership ensured continuity in project management and consistent pedagogical support across all groups.
Student collaboration and knowledge construction We organised the core analytical work through transnational student teams, each
focusing on specific aspects of the shared dataset. Working collaboratively at a distance, students compared observations from different locations, identified patterns and discussed possible explanations.
Each team produced an infographic presenting its findings, including data interpretation and proposals for reducing light pollution. This required students not only to engage with scientific reasoning, but also to make decisions about visual communication and the construction of clear, evidence-based arguments.
A distinctive interdisciplinary element was embedded in each infographic: drawings created by primary school pupils representing their perception of the Orion constellation. In each national group, younger pupils produced two drawings reflecting their interpretation of Orion and
