One hundred years later, the pupils became young mathematical detectives. Their mission was to unlock the treasure by completing five interconnected challenges. Within this narrative, mathematics was no longer a series of isolated exercises but an unfolding adventure in which every solution moved the story forward.
Five missions towards the treasure Mission 1: Discovering the beginning of the adventure The first mission introduced pupils to the storyline and the digital learning environment through interactive activities created with JigsawPlanet, LearningApps, Liveworksheets and Genially. Collaborative tasks and rotating roles helped them practise number recognition and basic mathematical skills while developing communication and teamwork.
Mission 2: The magic of addition and subtraction In the second mission, pupils explored addition and subtraction in international teams differentiated according to age and learning level. Children aged 6 to 9 worked with numbers up to 20, whereas pupils aged 9 to 12 completed activities involving numbers up to 10,000. Digital games, puzzles and practical exercises strengthened calculation skills, logical thinking and cooperation.
Mission 3: Entering the kingdom of multiplication and division The third mission took pupils into the Kingdom of Multiplication and Division through age-appropriate challenges organised in colour-coded international
teams. The Red Groups, for children aged 6 to 8, completed introductory multiplication and division activities, while the Blue Groups, for pupils aged 9 to 12, tackled more complex challenges. Teachers exchanged mathematical tasks between partner schools, enabling pupils from different countries to solve one another’ s problems and share their learning experiences.
Mission 4: Detectives in the world of shapes Geometry became the focus of the fourth mission. Through Tangram activities, pupils developed spatial reasoning, creativity and perseverance. International teams reconstructed given models and then designed original geometric figures using imagination and problem-solving skills. Their creations were gathered in the project’ s collaborative digital book.
Mission 5: The final logical-thinking challenge The final mission brought together all the mathematical competences developed during the project. Pupils followed mathematical routes containing progressively more demanding challenges adapted to their age. By solving problems, discovering hidden letters and completing creative tasks, they finally unlocked The Treasure of Logical Thinking. The conclusion of the adventure highlighted the connections between mathematics, imagination, creativity and teamwork.
Teacher collaboration and professional learning Professional development was supported through two collaborative workshops.
