personal, social and learning-to-learn competence, citizenship competence, and cultural awareness and expression. The activities also strengthened transversal skills such as logical reasoning, creativity, critical thinking, initiative, communication, collaboration and problem-solving.
Implemented from September 2025 to May 2026, The Mystery of the Mathematical Treasure was an international eTwinning project for pupils aged 6 to 12 from Romania, Türkiye and Poland. It brought together gamification, storytelling, digital technology and international cooperation to make the learning of mathematics engaging, purposeful and memorable.
Aims and competences The project aimed to develop pupils’ mathematical competences through gamified learning while improving logical thinking and problem-solving. Mathematical challenges and storytelling stimulated creativity, and collaboration among partner schools encouraged communication across cultures. The integration of digital technologies supported learning and helped increase pupils’ motivation and active involvement in mathematics.
Through their participation, pupils developed several key European competences: mathematical and digital competence, multilingual communication,
The story behind the mathematical adventure The project was built around the legend of Professor Numeronius, an eccentric mathematician who had discovered a secret formula capable of revealing the true power of mathematics. To protect his discovery, he hid it in a magical chest called The Treasure of Logical Thinking, which contained mathematical puzzles, secret codes and educational challenges.
