Beyond the tangible outputs, the project generated significant educational benefits by strengthening a range of transferable competences. Continuous participation in international teamwork enhanced students ' ability to communicate effectively in English, negotiate meaning across cultural contexts, and collaborate responsibly within diverse groups. Research-based activities promoted analytical thinking, information evaluation, and evidence-based reasoning, while multimedia production strengthened digital creativity and responsible technology use. At the same time, regular opportunities for public speaking, peer feedback, and reflective practice contributed to greater confidence, autonomy, and self-awareness.
The thematic focus on women ' s rights encouraged students to move beyond historical knowledge towards a deeper understanding of equality as a contemporary social issue. By examining historical struggles alongside present-day challenges, participants developed greater sensitivity to questions of inclusion, human rights, representation, and civic participation. Awareness campaigns and community-based dissemination activities further demonstrated that learning could extend in real-world contexts and contribute to meaningful public dialogue. international collaboration, partner schools exchanged innovative pedagogical practices, strengthened professional networks, and enriched teaching through interdisciplinary, technology-enhanced learning activities. Overall, The Power of S. H. E. – Strength, Hope and Equality project demonstrates how eTwinning can successfully connect curriculum learning with active citizenship, equipping students with the knowledge, life skills, and values needed to participate responsibly in diverse democratic societies.
Aliona Meriacre is a teacher of English at the Republican Theoretical Lyceum“ Aristotel” in Chișinău, Moldova. Committed to innovative and student-centred education, she leads national and international projects that integrate media literacy, climate change, human rights, gender equality, and civic education into English language teaching. Through project-based learning, she empowers students to develop Skills for Life, including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, digital literacy, and active citizenship, preparing them to become informed, empathetic, and engaged members of democratic society.
