Designed for preschool and primary school pupils, the project places children at the centre of the learning process. They become researchers, designers, storytellers, creators and problem solvers who discover Europe through authentic educational experiences. Every activity is carefully designed to connect curricular objectives with real-life contexts, allowing pupils to understand that mathematics, science, technology and art are not isolated disciplines but complementary ways of exploring the world.
As a co-founder of the project, my aim was to contribute to the design of a pedagogical framework where technology supports learning rather than replacing it, where creativity is encouraged alongside scientific reasoning, and where every child has the opportunity to participate actively in building knowledge. The project therefore represents much more than a collection of educational activities; it is a collaborative European learning community built on trust, curiosity and shared educational values.
A pedagogical vision based on meaningful learning The educational philosophy behind Culture Quest is rooted in constructivist pedagogy and project-based learning. Knowledge is not transmitted directly from teacher to pupil but constructed through exploration, investigation, experimentation and reflection. Teachers become facilitators who design authentic learning experiences, while pupils assume an active role in discovering information, solving problems and creating meaningful products.
One of the project ' s defining characteristics is its interdisciplinary approach. Instead of teaching individual subjects separately, learning activities integrate science, mathematics, technology, engineering and the arts around common themes related to European cultural heritage. This integration enables children to establish meaningful connections between disciplines while developing transferable competences.
Learning is organised around questions rather than answers. Children investigate monuments, compare architectural styles, analyse patterns, identify mathematical concepts in works of art, experiment with engineering principles through construction activities and communicate their discoveries using digital tools. Such an approach transforms abstract concepts into concrete experiences that are both memorable and motivating.
Equally important is the emphasis placed on collaboration. Pupils work individually, in pairs, in local teams and in international groups, sharing ideas with peers from other European countries. This collaborative dimension develops communication skills, empathy, responsibility and intercultural understanding while helping children appreciate that diversity is a valuable educational resource rather than an obstacle.
Digital technologies are integrated naturally throughout the project. Instead of using technology merely for presentation purposes, pupils employ
