How eTwinning Changed My Life as a Teacher by Irene Confalone

A single project can change the rhythm of a school year. But sometimes, if you are lucky, it can change your entire professional life. That is what eTwinning has done for me.
A New Beginning: Discovering a Community I Didn’ t Know I Needed When I first joined eTwinning, I imagined it would simply enrich my lessons with a few international activities. I never expected it to become a turning point in my career. What I found was not just a platform, but a living community of teachers who share values, curiosity, and a deep commitment to European collaboration. was alive, and that made all the difference. What impressed me most was the increase in interest among students and teachers. They wanted to participate, to create, to connect. eTwinning became a catalyst for new contacts, new friendships, and new professional relationships across Europe.
This wasn’ t just an activity. It was a cultural shift.
A Meaningful Moment: When Students Surprised Us All One of the most meaningful activities came from a simple idea: asking students to create a digital product that represented their identity and hopes for the future.
What happened next was unexpected. Students produced videos, podcasts, digital posters, and collaborative presentations that revealed their creativity, sensitivity, and teamwork.
Little by little, eTwinning reshaped the way I teach, the way I learn, and the way I connect with others. It opened doors I didn’ t even know existed.
A Project That Sparked a New Vibe of Energy Among the many experiences, one project stands out because it activated a new wave of energy in our school. Students who were usually shy began proposing ideas; colleagues who rarely collaborated started asking how they could join; classrooms became creative laboratories buzzing with excitement. The project was not“ perfect” – no project ever is – but it
