From a holiday cookbook to real-life skills Earlier in the project, our children collaborated on an international Holiday Sweet Cookbook, sharing traditional family recipes from their countries. The cookbook became much more than a collection of recipes. Pupils read and interpreted instructions, calculated ingredient costs explored family traditions, improved their digital publishing skills and proudly presented dishes representing their culture. Many classes even prepared sweets at school together, turning learning to learning into a joyful cooperation.
This activity also included an international cover design competition, where pupils voted online using Google Forms, learning about digital citizenship, democratic participation and decision-making. project partner, Senay Sağlık, I prepared an international lesson plan and interactive activities designed to help pupils explore important aspects of online safety.
Through age-appropriate tasks and discussions, children learned how to protect their personal information, create stronger passwords, identify reliable websites, think carefully before sharing content, and communicate respectfully in digital environments.
As part of this activity, international teams worked together in a shared online document to create our collaborative poem, " Stay Safe Online ". Each team wrote one verse, expressing their ideas about kindness, responsibility, and safe behaviour on the internet. Every class then recorded their part, and all recordings were brought together into one international video. Seeing children from different countries sharing the same message was a powerful reminder that digital citizenship connects us beyond borders.
