C . project is with NLT , which hired the firm of Tom Doak , Gil Hanse and Beau Welling to be the architects in charge of the renovation of the three facilities , and not as the lead designer .
NLT and the design team are renovating the three D . C . courses to address years of deferred maintenance , and in the process , restoring as much of the original architecture as possible , McCartin noted . Additionally , McCartin worked with Doak and Renaissance Golf on the Washington Golf & Country Club redesign but was not solely responsible for that project . Virginia Golfer regrets the errors .
CHANGING HANDS Several clubs in Virginia are under new management as the heart of the 2021 playing season approaches .
In early January , Troon Golf announced it had acquired the recently rebranded Indigo Golf Partners , the company formerly known as Billy Casper Golf . Clubs impacted by the move include 1757 Golf Club , Brickshire Golf Club , Forest Greens Golf Club , Lexington Golf & Country Club , Magnolia Green Golf Club , Prince William Golf Course and Spring Creek Golf Club .
Additionally , Raleigh , N . C . -based ownership group McConnell Golf purchased a pair of Smith Mountain Lake golf clubs on
McConnell Golf purchased two Smith Mountain Lake Courses , including The Water ' s Edge .
the final day of 2020 : The Water ’ s Edge Country Club and The Westlake . McConnell Golf now owns 15 clubs and operates 17 courses total , including Greensboro ’ s Sedgefield Country Club , home of the PGA Tour ’ s Wyndham Championship .
