In 1993 , my wife Joan gave me a very nice wooden pegboard featuring “ Golf Magazine ’ s Top 100 Courses of the World .” My 10-year-old daughter Sarah watched intently as I unwrapped my Christmas gift . As we both gazed at it — and before I even said , “ I love it ”— Sarah looked over and

At that point I had managed to play nine courses on what was a very international list . Now , I can say I have knocked off 28 . The list of course , has been revised and duplicated by almost every golf publication . Some of the new courses like Bandon

Dunes have deservedly pushed many on my 1993 list off the chart . I have played a good number of those new designs as well .
My first international trip , in 1980 , was to England and Scotland with my fivemonths-pregnant wife to visit my brother Frank and his young family in London . We all journeyed to Edinburgh on the train
