PAST PRESIDENTS EARN GRAINGER AWARDS Two past VSGA presidents — Richard Wight and Michael Millen — were recognized with the USGA ' s Ike Grainger Award at the organization ' s annual meeting on Feb . 26 .
The Grainger award recognizes volunteers who have served for 25 years or longer with the USGA . Both Wight and Millen have been active volunteers on USGA committees and have worked as Rules officials at USGA championships . In 2019 , the VSGA ’ s Gib Palmer and Grover Walker were honored with Grainger Awards .

GRIFFIN ’ S PLEDGE Lanto Griffin , past champion of the PGA Tour ’ s Houston Open and the State Open of Virginia , is partnering with Youth on Course in Virginia in 2021 .
Griffin , who grew up in Virginia , spent a considerable part of his youth playing at The Hill ( Blacksburg Municipal GC ) and played collegiately at VCU , will pledge $ 100 per birdie and $ 500 per eagle that he makes in the year ' s four majors and The Players Championship to Youth on Course Virginia .
