Hurst made a key par save on No . 13 and a 10-foot birdie putt on 16 to give his side a three-shot cushion over Carlos Aranda and Danny Derisio heading to the final two holes .
Said Hurst of the changes to Brittain ’ s bag and Hurst ’ s putting stance : “ He ’ s killing it . Hitting a nice little tight draw over there , every hole . He hits it really consistent , and farther . I think that made a huge difference for Buck . And I ’ ve changed my putting
recently . I don ’ t know if you noticed , but I ’ ve gotten closer to the ball , and I putted really well this week .”
The win was Brittain ’ s fourth in a VSGA senior event and Hurst ’ s second .

The story : If the names of the champions look familiar , it ’ s because they are . Greenlief bagged her fourth title in the event ( two each with Austin and Shabril Derco ), while Easterly and Ellertson remained the only senior champions the event has ever known . In the open division , Greenlief and Austin used a back-nine birdie binge to pull away from runners-up Danielle Suh and Victoria Tip-Aucha for a four-shot victory . The senior division wasn ’ t the runaway that it has been in the past two playings of the event , but Easterly and Ellertson still won by a comfortable three-stroke margin over Andrea Miller and Cindy Thompson .
“ It feels great ,” Ellertson said afterward . “ We aren ’ t getting any younger , so it feels good .” Added Easterly : “ I ’ m so lucky to have her as a partner .”
78th VSGA Club Championship Winner : Willow Oaks Country Club ( 130 ) The story : The Club Championship returned after the pandemic canceled it in 2020 , and Willow Oaks helped Richmond-area clubs continue their dominance of this event with a four-shot victory at The Foundry Golf Club in Powhatan . Richmond-area clubs have won every title since 2016 , with Willow Oaks joining The Foundry , Hermitage CC , Independence GC , The Federal Club and CC of Virginia on that list .
Willow Oaks ’ two four-ball sides — Steve Serrao / Sean Patterson and Ben Boyer / Joey Jordan — each shot 7-under 65 to propel the club to the win . Willow Oaks won its first title since 2014 . Jordan , the defending Willow Oaks club champion , picked the roster .
