“ Steve is one of the best players in Virginia , so it ’ s a pleasure to play with him ,” Jordan said . “ Ben hits it a mile , he played in college , and he can putt the lights out of it .
And of course , Sean Patterson , he ’ s an animal . An absolute animal . He recently hit a hole in one , so he ’ s been a god with the irons lately .”
3rd VSGA Multi-Format Team Championship Winners : Regular , Evan Beck and Mikey Moyers ( 58-63 — 121 ); Senior , Jon Zampedro and Jeffrey Klatt ( 63-69 — 132 ) The story : Beck and Moyers have known each other since they were 8 years old and have competed against each other ever since , in high-level VSGA events and in ACC competition in college , as Beck went to Wake Forest and Moyers to Virginia Tech . Now mid-amateurs , they paired up to annihilate the field at Spring Creek , finishing 13 strokes clear of three runner-up sides . They shot 63 in modified alternate shot in the second round . The senior division produced a repeat champion ( Zampedro / Klatt ), who just like last year finished a stroke clear of Cam Young and Hank Klein .
8th MAPGA / VSGA Junior Four-Ball Championship Winners : Xander Goboy and Trey Marrion ( 63-67 — 130 ) The story : Goboy ’ s eagle on No . 15 was the highlight of a sizzling opening-round 63 . Both players made birdie on the par-4 18th in the second round , which proved crucial in holding off the runner-up sides of Matt Moloney / David Stanford and Josh Duangmanee / Matthew Monastero . The win earned Goboy and Marrion a spot in the 56th VSGA Four-Ball Championship , where they finished ninth .
