finish a stroke clear of Bert Allen with a
two-day, even-par 144. Roday turned 65 in
February and was playing in his first super
senior championship.

to-back birdies on 15 and 16 to seize

For the second time in three years, the VSGA
Club Championship produced a first-time
winner. Midlothian’s Independence Golf
Club—featuring Elliott Wilson, Sam Beach,
Scott Bemberis and TJ Austin—posted a
7-under-par 137 in the morning shotgun
for a one-stroke victory over Hermitage
Country Club and The Foundry Golf Club.
Wilson, the club’s director of golf, teamed
with Beach to return a 5-under-par 67,
the best four-ball score of the day.

Virginia held a two-point lead heading into
Sunday singles and held on for a 15½-12½
victory in the annual matches between the
VSGA and the West Virginia Golf Asso-
ciation. Virginia retained Ye Ole Feudin’
Stick for the 10th straight year, having
won nine of the last 10 matches. The teams
tied in 2018. Jimmy Delp, Scott Reisen-
weaver, Buck Brittain and Rich Bucker
all earned three points for Virginia at
Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, W. Va. over
the weekend.
