The leaves are falling , our handicaps aren ’ t and the end of the season is in sight . However , there ’ s much to report from the past few gatherings .
Thirty-one golfers qualified and participated in the Club Championship at the end of August . The twoday format paired golfers according to handicap and then the next day ’ s play was determined by the first day ’ s outcome . The 2022 CWGA club champion is Alex Carney . The leaders in the three flights were also recognized .
Flight A : Laurie Bales , first place gross ; Brenda Hankins and Jan Watson , tied for second place gross ; Kathy Smith , first place net ; and Susie Taylor , second place net .

Sunshine Service

By JOAN VEDDER

Our organization is dedicated to helping people

I have a beautiful granddaughter who has just one year left of study at the University of Oregon . She is doing a dual scenario , psychology and business — a rather odd twosome ?
VEDDER Her summer job this
year was working in a nursery school , not necessarily by choice but it was ‘ available .’ Strangely enough , she has absolutely fallen in love with these little ones and is now questioning her future . Her father ( my son ) keeps telling her to choose a career that pays a LOT .
I ’ m encouraging her to do something she LOVES , no matter what the salary !
As I look around me , I see people equating money with success but I ’ m not sure I agree . Sunshine Service consists totally of VOLUNTEERISM ! We don ’ t receive a salary , nor perks of any sort . We have no funding whatsoever . But boy are we dedicated to what we do for the community-at-large ! You can call any one of us when you need to borrow medical equipment and we will help you .
The whole ‘ team ’ does this service for one simple reason — we like to help people .
With a few generous monetary donations recently , we were able to purchase a third knee-scooter . The two we already have are currently being used by two ladies who broke their ankle about the same time . When a third client needed one due to foot surgery , we figured it was time to invest in one more .
Please remember , and be thankful for , the service we offer Charbonneau residents — at NO cost to you . It doesn ’ t cost anything to be kind .
