Gail finds social life , joy through tennis
Gail Mikkelson has lived and played tennis in Charbonneau for 27 years ! Even though she learned the game in her 40s , Gail quickly picked it up and , with her husband Bob , enjoyed

mixed doubles and the social life it provided .
Gail grew up in Northern Michigan , so summer outdoor play was a short season . Short summers or not , Gail had three older brothers to compete with . Exercise , biking and swimming were always a part of her life , which kept her strong and competitive ! So , it was natural for Gail to be a member of the 3.0 Womens United States Tennis Association team here in Charbonneau for approximately 10 years .

FREE breakfast , in the Country Club dining room , on
Friday , November 11 at 8 am Followed by a brief presentation at 9 am .
The Wilsonville Rotary will be preparing the food , which includes : pancakes , eggs , and make-to-order omelets . This hard-working group looks forward to honoring Veterans for their service to our country .

Gail ’ s daughter , Monique , played for West Albany High School where Gail was a communication and English teacher . Her two grandsons , Matthew and Cameron , started taking lessons at 5 and 6 years old . Family tennis continued at the desert during Bob and Gail ’ s winter vacations , giving the family many fond memories . The friendships remain today after 27 years . Her longtime friends , Chris Irwin and Pat Auxier , are still playing together in Charbonneau .
Gail ’ s advice to anyone thinking of taking up the sport is that you do not have to prove yourself to be on the courts and will find acceptance , joy and friendships .
