Everyone’s eyes are on the player with the ball, and as he shoots, a short silence dominates the air until the ball gets through the hoop and the buzzer makes noise. The supporters of both the winning and losing teams cheered for their team and their victory, and the ones who lost their game as well, will be cheered, promising the next game. Basketball is one of Mountainview’s most popular sports that almost everyone in the school enjoys to watch and/or play. On September 17th, the Junior class passionately organized the event and also served various snacks and food, in preparation for the coming Junior-Senior Banquet. A total of 10 teams played that Saturday. Point system was used in order to balance the teams’ skill level. Team point could not exceed 20, and each team could only have a maximum of six players. This was to ensure fair competition among the teams. The teams were divided into two groups, each group with 5 teams. Each team played four games in the round robin of their group. While the teams did not get the chance play against teams in the other group in the round robin, the knockout system them Volume 5.1allowed October to compete with other teams in the other group. The final knockout game was between the team Softies and the team Single Ready to Mingle. It was a close game, and the Softies won the glory of the first place in the tournament by 6 points. Each player from the winning team was rewarded with a RP30,000.00 gift card for the Junior class snack shop. Thanks to the Junior class and the teachers who prepared and organized this event for the school, and to the players in the 10 teams who participated in the tournament.
