Metamorphobia

As an eight year old kid, I played Pokemon more than anyone else I have ever known. I still remember the astounding feeling I had as I watched my dear Combusken evolve into a full-fledged Blaziken. I was so proud! Seeing my first pokemon evolve into its mature form was one of the best memories of my childhood. After battling thousands of other pokemons, trainers, and gym leaders, I learned that hard efforts do pay off after all.
We’ ve all changed from the time we were kids, just like little charmanders, bulbasaurs and squirtles. It’ s a natural and healthy thing; one shouldn’ t be afraid to try new things and look out for new experiences, because those will help one mature and develop into a better person.
However, some fail to remember that change requires preparation. Let me tell you my story as an example: entering Mountainview was a big change for me. It was my first experience living apart from my family, first time I had to leave my hometown and fend for myself. It was challenging, but after few months I discovered that these new responsibilities and difficulties had shaped me into a new and better person.
Sometimes people are so scared of changes they refuse to do anything new. I remember being afraid of going to faraway cities and meeting new people. I wanted to meet the same people, go to the same places and play with the same friends, because frankly, being in a routine makes me feel comfortable and safe. But change is inevitable, and when it came I was scared and intimidated. Perhaps people like me could find some help from their parents or their friends, and there is always consolation and peace in Christ, for He will always be there for us-“ the Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”( Deuteronomy 31: 8)
Uncertainty is the biggest reason people fear change. But change will always be a part of life. Soon, you may see it everywhere; kindergartners will start elementary in a few months, newbies shall join the ranks of high schoolers and our seniors will move on to college and adulthood. Changes will always be part of our lives, avoiding it is not only impossible, but also exceedingly time and energy consuming. The best thing one can do when facing change is to try to make the best out of the experience, by maintaining a positive attitude and finding things to appreciate and enjoy. When life gives you lemons, make a delicious, deluxe ice cold lemonade with a cream float.
And after you have been through a great deal of trouble, fun, joy, disappointment, difficulties, problems, and happiness, you may find that the experiences have helped you to become a better and perhaps a wiser person.
