Changes that
Everybody’ s changing. The question is
whether the change is for the better or the worse. Gandhi was a wealthy lawyer educated in England, but a self-rearrangement occurred when he was kicked out of a train one day because of his skin color. After the incident, he was no longer the same man. The fair world he had perceived hitherto was dead and he had witnessed a repugnant reality. Yet he had a choice: was he going to submit to injustice and continue on his search for a comfortable life as an affluent member of society, or was he going to give these things up and fight for his people’ s rights as humans?
Living in the 21st century, everyday incidents might not strike you as provocatively. However they will still induce changes on a more personal level, as you see a hungry kid on a street, as you are exposed to consumer culture, as you claim Christianity until you are tremendously tempted; as such circumstances surface, how you cope with them will define you and label you. And frankly, it’ s hard to be great.
Define You
By Soon Hyung Kwon
Whether a change will benefit or harm your essential nature is, I believe, dependent on your character. What’ s more is that one’ s character is a choice made, thus changes are a matter of choice, and anyone is capable of making his or her own decisions. Through the worst of situations, great people have always come out greater. Always ask yourself“ how can I be a better person in how I deal with this situation?”. Because only when one is proud and content with oneself will one be truly happy.
The Voice of Our Student Body
By Jenny Lee
You may have
seen us during lunch, sitting in a square, in room 20. But in actuality, you’ ve seen us throughout the entire school year, from the 3 on 3 tournament to after school teacher meetings. Student Council has been a part of Mountainview behind the scenes, planning, organizing, proposing resolutions and debating issues. You have met the Activities Committee( consisting of Stephen Kusuma, Joseph Armstrong, Audrey Wasito, Paula Fallas) through the Indoor Soccer Tournament and Spirit Week. You met the School-Inter Relations Committee( Michael Watanabe, Grace Baek, Alex H e o, Y u d h i s Sudharto) through the availability of gym lights to all students, and through the first joint studentteacher dress code committee.
Now we are in a process of transition. In years to come, you may not see the Student Council tangibly, but remember that we the Student Council will always be your representatives, mediator and voice.
