TRANSFERRING YOUR BENEFITS FROM A DIFFERENT SCHOOL
If you are the service member or veteran transferring Chapters 30, 33, 33 TOE, or
1606:
1. Go to www.vets.gov to fill out VA Form 22-1995 (Request for Change of
Program or Place of Training)
2. After the VA processes your 22-1995, they will mail you a Certificate of
Eligibility (COE)
3. Bring your COE to the School Certifying Official (SCO)
4. Sign a Student Veteran Agreement form
If you are the dependent transferring Chapter 35:
1. Go to www.vets.gov to fill out VA Form 22-5495 (Request for Change of
Program or Place of Training – Survivor’s and Dependent’s Educational
Assistance)
2. After the VA processes your 22-5495, they will mail you a Certificate of
Eligibility (COE)
3. Bring your COE to the School Certifying Official (SCO)
4. Sign a Student Veteran Agreement form
If you are transferring WI GI Bill:
1. Fill out and submit a WDVA form 2029 to the School Certifying Official
(SCO) **This form must be submitted to the School Certifying Official
(SCO) by the 14th day of the Official Start Date of the semester. **
a. If you are the dependent (spouse or child) of an eligible veteran,
you will need to attach a copy of your Birth Certificate or Marriage
License.
b. If you are the stepchild of an eligible veteran, you will need to
attach a copy of your Birth Certificate and Marriage License that
shows the eligible veteran has married a biological parent of
the student.
ENROLLING AS A GUEST STUDENT
If you are enrolled in two schools at the same time AND you are also receiving
federal VA Education Benefits, contact your SCO. You will need to send your
SCO the following information:
1. Class name and Catalog Number (ex. 10-320-121, VIN105-Molecular
Principles Grape/Wine)
2. The name and contact info for your other SCO (at the other school you
are attending)
3. Sign a Student Veteran Agreement form
