THE SEA CAN SING WITHOUT WORDS
Grace Rumgay - Year 8
Inspired by Emily Dickinson ’ s ‘ Hope is the thing with feathers ’
The sea can sing without words , The feathers of a bird rustle , The waves constantly change their strange tune , The gale blows to and fro , This tune sings the song of freedom , Its soul seems unabashed , unafraid , It does not listen to what the sky , Or the land , Or the people , Want it to do , It shows us our farthest aspirations , It conveys the hope that lies within us , Just by existing , The sea can sing without words .
