The Collaborative ’ s RTU Program Returns
This year , The Collaborative is continuing its spring and summer RTU ( Resilience Through Understanding ) Program from May to July . Registration opened April 15 . The Collaborative will focus programming on the caring adult / youth connection , guiding us all toward improving how we listen , talk , and connect . We are grateful to our partners at Northshire Civic Center and Stratton Mountain Bike Park for providing incentives for student participation .
RTU is a youth substance misuse prevention and asset-building educational program that incentivizes the healthy choice of not using drugs and alcohol . This season ’ s theme , “ Listen . Talk . Connect ,” will convey effective communication skills to youth and caring adults alike , both with peers and across generations . For the Kickoff event , participants and caring adults will come together to actively listen to one another . Sure , there ’ s frequent chatter about everyday matters – but how much are you hearing about what ’ s going on with your young person ? Find out with us at spring / summer RTU Event 1 . In-person event options include an Equine-Assisted Learning ( EAL ) session at Kanthaka of North Bennington and The Collaborative ’ s Spring Festival at Flood Brook School . In return for their efforts , participants can choose a season pass from Stratton Mountain Bike Park or a season pass to disc golf from Riley Rink at Hunter Park . So stay tuned for more events . Manchester Community Food Cupboard
The Community Food Cupboard is requesting help from the community in supplementing their shelves . A monthly Wish List will be published as a guidance , but any food donations are accepted and greatly appreciated . Following are the items being requested for the month of May which has a “ Mom theme ” in celebration of Mother ’ s Day : diapers and pull-ups ( larger sizes preferred ), granola bars and snacks , cold cereal , peanut butter , juice boxes , baby wipes , children ’ s toothbrushes and toothpaste . The need is great and it is increasing . In January 2022 , CFC served 517 individuals . That number is now up to 833 this past month . Please join us in helping our neighbors . Items can be dropped off at : Shaw ’ s , Manchester Town Hall , Manchester Community Library , First Congregational Church in the Village , or Dorset Post Office . ‘ Remembering the World of Anne Frank ’
The Vermont Holocaust Memorial , a nonprofit working to advance Holocaust education in Vermont , in partnership with Jewish Community of Greater Stowe ( JCOGS ), is pleased to present a multimedia reading performance that is part oral history , part dramatic action , part direct address , and part remembrance on May 5 from 4pm to 6:30pm . And Then They Came for Me is like an historic newsreel brought to life . The presentation is sponsored in part by Vermont Humanities , the Greater Stowe Interfaith Coalition , and is part of Temple Sinai ’ s “ HALT ((( H8 )))” initiative .
The play will last for 90 minutes with no intermission . The event will also include traditional memorial prayers and a candle lighting ceremony . An interactive , optional “ talk back ” about the rise of antisemitism will follow the performance . This free educational event is suitable for Vermonters in grade 6 and up . JCOGS is located at 1189 Cape Cod Rd . in Stowe , VT . Advance registration required at : jcogs . org / event . Please note there will be a security presence on site .

Favorite classroom memory ? I always enjoy welcoming new adult students to our school on the first day of their class . It ' s great to see so many people who are looking to gain the knowledge to upskill or train for a new career . People don ' t realize over 100 adult students enroll here each year .
