Emerging Art Historians at The Clark
On December 9 , take a new look at old favorites in the Clark ’ s permanent collection in conversation with a Williams College art history graduate student . In this new program , students in the Williams College / Clark Graduate Program in the History of Art share their thoughts on an object in the collection through the perspective of new scholarship . Discussion — and lively debate — encouraged ! Tours begin in the Museum Pavilion at 12pm .

Williams College Chamber Music Gala
On December 11 at 1 pm , the Clark Art Institute hosts a concert by the Williams College Music Department in the Clark ’ s Michael Conforti Pavilion . The Chamber Music Gala presents an afternoon of exceptional chamber music by students in the Music Department at Williams . Prior to their performances , student musicians will introduce their repertoires . The program of string and woodwind chamber music showcases students performing selections from their fall semester chamber music collaborations . Free ; no registration is required . Auditions for Private Lives by Noel Coward
Bennington Community Theater , which is part of Bennington Performing Arts Center , will be presenting Privates Lives as its winter play directed by Janet Groom . Auditions for this Noel Coward play are on December 4 from 1-3pm , and December 5 from 6-8pm .

Clark ’ s Start with Art Program Returns
On December 10 at 10am , the Clark Art Institute ’ s popular Start with Art series returns . December ’ s event is themed to shadow and light . Designed for preschoolers , Start with Art offers themed painting talks , gallery guides , and art-making activities . This program is best suited for three- to six-year-olds and their caregivers . Jackson Gallery Opening Reception & Exhibit
The Jackson Gallery will be transformed into a carnival of color to warm the winter months . Artists Fran Bull and Robert Black collaborate under the name Frobertan . Fran , an artist and writer , and Robert , architect and artist , share a vision for expressing the message of peace , harmony , and creativity . The installation features a rollicking array of painted sculptures – stock characters inspired by Commedia dell ’ arte , carnival , circus , opera , and Greek drama . The wildly creative polychrome figures range in size from the Jesters and the “ Laughing Heads ” displayed on pedestals to the full sized “ For David Bowie ” seated in a high-backed chair over six feet tall . Fran Bull ’ s brilliant abstract paintings form the backdrop . The exhibit will open with a reception on December 9 from 5-7pm , which is open to all . The exhibit will be on display through February 18 , 2023 . The Jackson Gallery in Town Hall Theater ’ s lower level is open Monday-Friday from 12-5pm , as well as during performances .
