Why Southwest Tech ? I went to the Sophomore Summit and discovered the Manufacturing Technologies program . I knew right away it was perfect for my engineering career goals .

Southwest Tech ? Taking the Adult CNC night class , I was the only
high school student . My classmates were current industry operators and engineers . I was able to learn a lot . It was an opportunity that elevated my learning experience .
What are your future plans ? I want to go to college to study engineering . I ' m interested in Environmental or Civil Engineering because I like being hands-on . I ' m thinking about studying in the South .

Adirondack Canoe Raffle
Monument Arts and Cultural Center in Bennington , VT is raffling off a 1960s Adirondack canoe that was built by the Algonquin / Ojibwa Native Americans of Trois-Rivers Quebec ( three rivers ).
It is “ strip-built ” of cedar with copper nails . Strip-built canoes are constructed by gluing together ¼x¾ strips of wood over a building jig consisting of station molds that define the shape of the hull . The strips may be square cut , or for a better fit , they are shaped bead and dove router bits . Once the strips are glued together , the inside and outside are sanded fair , and a fiberglass and epoxy covering is applied to the canoe inside and out . This treatment made it possible to use the canoe without submerging it for several hours to seal the wood . The fiberglass covering is transparent , allowing the wood strips to be seen . The construction made the canoes lightweight for easy portages between lakes .
This canoe was used in several Adirondack Lakes for 20 years by the arts center ’ s founder and builder Bruce Laumeister . Raffle tickets are $ 50 each and proceeds go to benefit MACC . The winner will be chosen at MACC ’ s May 4 Gala . monumentcentervt . org .
Rutland South Rotary Raffle
Rutland South Rotary Annual Raffle is back in-person once again . What does your ticket purchase provide ? Aside from the promise of an incredible evening filled with laughter , good company , and the chance to win some fantastic prizes , your ticket purchase goes a long way in supporting the youth and youth-related programs in our community through our Grant programs . The prizes are as follows : Grand Prize $ 10,000 ; 2nd Prize $ 2,000 ; 3rd Prize $ 1,000 ; 4th Prize $ 500 ; and 26 Prizes of $ 125 .

Emily “ Emmy ” Hebert will lead a Paint and Sip on May 4 , at the Roundhouse Bar and Grill , Rtes 11 / 30 in Manchester , VT between 1pm and 3pm . The Komen VT MTPWalk is a non-competitive , family-friendly , all ages and abilities community walk being held on October 5 in Manchester . Details available at komen . org / vermontwalk . Susan G . Komen is the only organization that addresses breast cancer on multiple fronts such as research , community health , global outreach , and public policy initiatives in order to make the biggest impact against the disease .
