Fun on First Sundays : On March 3 from 11am to 4pm , the Clark lifts the curtain on a day of art , creativity , and fun ! Transform a box into a miniature theater using special images from the Clark ’ s collection . Express yourself with comedy / tragedy mask-making . Then watch as director , writer , and educator Rudy Ramirez stages an original theatrical performance . Head into the galleries to uncover the drama of Clark artworks with a gallery guide on world-famous nineteenth-century actress Sarah Bernhardt . The Clark ’ s Manton Study Center for Works on Paper hosts a special pop-up installation of theater-inspired prints and drawings that set the stage for the day ’ s events by showing views of theaters , from interior lobbies to exterior architecture , from Paris to New York . The pop-up exhibition is free and on view from 11am to 1pm on March 3 . Free .
On March 5 at 5:30 pm , the Clark ’ s Research and Academic Program hosts a lecture by Erica Moiah James ( University of Miami / Clark / Oakley Humanities Fellow ) in MRC . In this free talk , James provides a careful study of the anonymous eighteenth-century work Portrait of a Young Woman using the material archive provided by the sitter ’ s dress , jewelry , and cotton head-tie to establish her as a Black , Caribbean , creole woman . Erica Moiah James is an art historian , curator , and assistant professor at the University of Miami . Her research centers on Indigenous , modern , and contemporary art of the Caribbean , Americas , and the African Diaspora . A 5pm reception in the reading room precedes the free program .
The Met : Live in HD : The Metropolitan Opera ’ s broadcast of La Forza del Destino airs at the Clark on March 9 at 11:55am in the latest installment of The Met : Live in HD . The award-winning series of live , high-definition cinema simulcasts features the full live performance along with backstage interviews and commentary . The Clark broadcasts the opera in its auditorium , located in the Manton Research Center ( MRC ). Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads Verdi ’ s grand tale of ill-fated love , deadly vendetta , and family strife . Tickets are $ 25 ($ 22 members , $ 18 students , $ 5 for children 15 and under ). Advance registration is encouraged as capacity is limited .
Film Series : The Clark presents a film series in celebration of the Williamstown Public Library ’ s 150th anniversary throughout March and April . The films in this series explore the transformative power of reading . All films are free and screened at 6pm in the MRC . Films in this series include : March 7 , The NeverEnding Story ( 1984 ); March 14 , The Princess Bride ( 1987 ); March 21 ; Fahrenheit 451 ( 1966 ); March 28 , 84 Charing Cross Road ( 1987 ); and April 4 , Adaptation ( 2002 ).
Ruckus Concert : On March 8 at 7pm , the Clark presents the dynamic musical ensemble Ruckus and their concert The Edinburgh Rollick : Music from the Niel Gow Collections , featuring Keir GoGwilt on violin . The concert takes place in the MRC . Ruckus , a shapeshifting group with a playful approach to classical music , explores the legacy of Niel Gow , eighteenth-century Scotland ’ s most celebrated fiddler . His son Nathaniel further combined traditional and original dance tunes under the Gow name in six collections of strathspeys and reels . Tickets $ 10 ($ 8 members , $ 7 students , $ 5 for children 15 and under ). Accessible seats available .

Canfield Gallery Update
The Canfield Gallery is pleased to announce its next exhibit , which will highlight the fiber arts created by members of the Canfield Quilters , from March 2 - March 30 . An opening reception will be held in the gallery on March 2 from 3-5pm with refreshments being served and members of the Canfield Quilters in attendance . Selected works will be for sale , with a portion of the proceeds to support the Martha Canfield Library . The Canfield Quilters , a group of a dozen quilters from the Quiet Valley Quilters Guild ( based in Bennington ), have been meeting monthly at the Martha Canfield Library in Arlington since 2017 . The group focuses their efforts on making quilts for local charities . The Canfield Gallery , located on the first floor of the Martha Canfield Library at 528 East Arlington Road in Arlington , is accessible through the ground floor entrance on the side of the building . New Exhibit at Norman Rockwell Museum
Mystery and Wonder : Highlights from the Illustration Collection is on view at the Museum from March 2 through June 16 . Novel cover illustrations , children ’ s book art , whimsical drawings , and editorial illustrations weave a world of mystery and wonder . These pieces are drawn from Norman Rockwell Museum ’ s Permanent Illustration Collection , a group of almost 25,000 works by contemporary and historical illustrators .
