October 23 and October 30 from 3:30pm to 5pm- Creativity Cave : Decoupage Ghosts with Trish Weill ( 2 Part Series ). Join artist Trish Weill in the Cave on October 23rd to form paper clay ghosts , and return on the 30th to decorate them . Ages 8 +.
October 24 from 2pm to 4pm- All About Food . If you enjoy food – cooking , eating , or just talking about food – join us for our monthly food lover ’ s group , meeting on the fourth Thursday of each month .
October 26 from 5pm to 7pm- Annual MCL Halloween Party . Join us for a night of dead delicious food , creepy costumes , spooky party games , and haunting tunes .
Vermont ’ s Observance of 250th Anniversaries
The public is invited to hear about planning for the 250th anniversary commemorations in Vermont at the annual potluck supper and business meeting of Castleton Historical Society .
Members and guests will gather at 6pm on October 23 in the dining room inside the Castleton Community Center , located at 2108 Main Street in Castleton , VT . The building is wheelchair accessible and is situated 1 / 10 of a mile east of the intersection , with VT Route 30 , known as Castleton Corners . After the annual business meeting at 6pm , there is a buffet-style potluck supper at 6:15pm , and a guest speaker at 7pm . Admission is free ; please bring a dish to share and a place setting . The program topic is Vermont ’ s observance of the 250th anniversaries . The special guest speaker is Laura Trieschmann , who has served as the Vermont State Historic Preservation Officer since 2013 and now also chairs the Vermont 250th Anniversary Commission .
Bennington College Podcast Symposium
On October 25 , Bennington College will host a Podcast Symposium for students , podcasters , writers , journalists , and anyone interested in learning about podcasting . From 1pm to 5pm at Bennington ’ s Center for the Advancement of Public Action ( CAPA ), some of the country ’ s leading podcasters will discuss investigative journalism , memoir podcasts , and community storytelling and provide guidance about narrative podcasting . The event is hosted by Bennington President Laura Walker , who was , as the former CEO of New York Public Radio , a pioneer in podcasting , and Andrea Bernstein , presidential fellow and visiting faculty member at Bennington and an award-winning journalist and creator of podcasts like Will Be Wild and Trump , Inc .
Whether you ’ re a longtime podcast listener , an aspiring creator , or simply curious about the medium , this symposium will offer valuable insights into the world of audio storytelling . You ’ ll have the opportunity to learn about the creative process behind successful podcasts , understand the technical aspects of podcast production , explore how podcasts can drive social change and public discourse , and network with professionals and peers in the industry .
