Guiliana Datnoff and Dr . Ben Wilson
Undergraduate Psychology and Psy . D . students Amina Antar , Oluwamayomide Pecku , Funmi Dada — along with their faculty sponsors Dr . D . Ryan Schurtz and Dr . Richard Metzger — submitted papers to and attended the Southeastern Psychological Association Annual Meeting in New Orleans in April . The papers “ Exploring the Relationship Between the Motivations and Attitudes Towards Sex by Gender , Relationship Security and Satisfaction ” ( by Amina Antar , Oluwamayomide Pecku , Funmi Dada , and Dr . D . Ryan Schurtz ) and “ Examining the Victim- Offender Relationship and Motivations for Murder in Capital and Life-Sentenced Cases ” ( by Funmi Dada and Dr . Richard Metzger ) were recognized as Psi Chi Regional Award winners .
This past academic year , the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department inducted five students — Brie Dewan , Luna Huynh , Y Luu , Nate Nash , and Arianna Piluk — into Gamma Sigma Epsilon , the National Chemistry Honors Society .
School of Education students Alex Eurich , Joy Lee , Gabby Reyes , Justice Simpson , Derrick Smith , Megan Tignor , Katelynn Morris , Caroline Ryan , James Small , Emilie Balius , Kera Skove , Eva Furman , Jamie Fritz , Lauren Green , and Wiktoria Bilich attended the National Teachers of Mathematics Conference in Baltimore with Dr . Beth Kobett , Professor , Education and Associate Dean and Professor , Education .
In April , Environmental Science senior Peyton Arbour and Biology senior Izzy Berner presented research about amphibians on campus and at Irvine Nature Center at the MidAtlantic Chapter of the Ecological Society of America meeting in Newark , DE .
Biomedical Engineering seniors Ashlyn Bray and Amir Srour presented research on assessing fall-injury risk conducted with Dr . James Borrelli at the American Society of Biomechanics East Coast Conference at Penn State Berks in Reading , PA .
Master of Arts in Teaching student Guiliana Datnoff and Dr . Ben Wilson presented their research , “ Student Perspectives on Recommendations on Improving High School Mathematics ,” at the National Teachers of Mathematics Conference in Baltimore .
Luna Huynh , double major in Applied Math and Chemistry , presented her research at the Spring 2023 Regional Undergraduate Math Research Conference at Towson University . Her talk was titled “ Using Optimal Transport Theory to Optimize Decision Making on How Sleep Quality and Activity Influence the Outcome of Pregnancy .”
The following students were selected to receive the 2023 Student Scholarly and Creative Work grants : Elias Landeros , Jeremiah Battle , Nadira Peiris , and Samantha Stephenson .
