Chemistry senior , Kevin Wassenius , received an American Chemical Society ( ACS ) Student Award at a statewide ACS event in April . The award recognized Kevin ’ s high academic achievement along with his active membership and participation in the Stevenson University ACS club .
Biochemistry senior Mya Nicholson was awarded the Whitley A . Mayo Scholarship for Minority Women in Forensic Science . Mya is currently in the BS / MFS program and will start her full-time graduate studies this summer .
Biochemistry alumni Samantha Rea , Alexia Smith , Brooke Hornberger , and Grace Fillmore — together with faculty members , Jeremy Burkett and Tim Dwyer — published their lab research work on synthesizing alternatives to the anti-cancer drug cisplatin in the American Journal of Undergraduate Research .

Honors Program students Kiersten Wienclawski , Sarah Straub , Rebecca Henry , and Caroline Seay presented projects at the Northeast Regional Honors Council Conference in Pittsburgh this spring . The students ’ projects included studies of the criteria for women ’ s sports based on gender determination , the role of NDMA receptors in depression , and the resilience of diverse women authors .
History students Erin Saunders , Steff Sommers , and Alyssa O ’ Kelley — along with Glenn T . Johnston , Ph . D ., Stevenson University Archivist , Program Coordinator , History and Humanities , and Assistant Professor , History — visited Annapolis to inspect new additions to In Freedom ’ s Name , a traveling history exhibit created by Stevenson University . The exhibit profiles African American government and military leaders from throughout Maryland ’ s history , including Governor Wes Moore .
Another Strong Year for the Mustang Mock Trial Teams ideals of the American Mock Trial Association — civility , justice , and fair play . The B team traveled to St . Paul , Minnesota , to compete at Macalester College .
