Faculty and Staff Achievements
Research by Dr . James Borelli , Ph . D ., Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering , was accepted for publication in the Journal of Biomechanics . His article , “ The timing and amplitude of the muscular activity of the arms preceding impact in a forward fall is modulated with fall velocity ,” was co-authored with Robert Creath and Mark W . Rogers .
Three professors represented Stevenson at the 2022 annual National Communication Association conference held in New Orleans LA in November 2022 . Dr . Deric Greene , Ph . D ., Professor of Communication , gave two presentations “ Disrupting White Space : ‘ Sorry Your Name is Karen ’” and “ The Message of Wakanda : Influencing Our PLACE in the World .” Dr . Heather Harris , Ph . D ., Professor of Communication , served as the IDEA ( inclusion , diversity , equity , and access ) Chair of the NCA ’ s Organizational Communication Division , and presented at the executive meeting and town hall . Dr . Leeanne Bell McManus , Ph . D ., Professor of Communication , presented “ Teaching Communication Ethics in Practice : Engaging in Ethical Practices in Relationships , in the Workplace , Online , and in the Community .” Her paper , “ Ethical Credo for Teams : A Case Study of a Long-Term Virtual Team ,” was selected as a Top Paper for the Communication Ethics division .
Dr . Beth Kobett , Ph . D ., Professor , Education and Associate Dean , Education , gave the presentation “ Leverage Your Students ’ Strengths Through Powerful Asset Based Mathematics Design and Formative Assessment Guiding , Informing , and Impacting Teaching and Learning in Mathematics ” at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics 2022 Regional Conference & Exposition held in Baltimore .
Mark Lortz , Ph . D ., Director of Music , shared his research and experiences on diversity , equity , inclusion , and accessibility at the Maryland Music Educators Association Annual Conference in March .
