East Campus Officially Opens

BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING LAB AND MAKERSPACE
A new 1,200-square-foot makerspace is currently under construction in the Kevin J . Manning Academic Center . Funded by a generous $ 350,000 gift from The Kahlert Foundation , the new space will feature the latest 3D printers , soldering and laser cutting equipment , and computer-aided design ( CAD ) technology . It will serve as a collaborative space to inspire creativity and thinking for students and faculty in Stevenson ’ s Biomedical
Engineering program , as well as for other students and faculty working on design and engineering projects .

In April , Stevenson leadership , staff , faculty , and students gathered with dignitaries from the State of Maryland and Baltimore County to officially open the university ’ s new 117-acre East Campus expansion .
“ Stevenson students have some of the best facilities in the nation for Division III athletics ,” said Brett Adams , Athletic Director . “ Our new East Campus facility is fantastic for all of our student athletes , including varsity , club , and intramural . It provides our students and coaches with a venue that we can use to compete and recruit at the highest level .”
The East Campus connects to the academic hub on Stevenson ’ s North campus via a new road and walkway , and includes :
• 8-lane outdoor track with 2 sprint straightaways , 2 horizontal jump runways , and 2 pole vault runways
• Throwing area with a shot-put circle , discus and hammer throw areas , and a javelin runway
• Artificial turf
• Baseball and softball fields
• Multi-purpose fields for soccer , lacrosse , and field hockey
• Women ’ s 6K , men ’ s 8K , and 5K cross country courses
• Open-air pavilion
