BASF modernises acid chloride plant
BASF has inaugurated a fully modernised plant for acid chlorides and chloroformates( ACCF) at its Ludwigshafen, Germany, Verbund site, increasing production capacity by around 30 %. The investment covers a fundamental renewal of the production infrastructure for acid chlorides and chloroformates. The modernisation is designed to combine increased capacity with enhanced sustainability performance and long-term supply reliability for customers worldwide.
Since 2025, BASF has produced its entire Ludwigshafen portfolio of around 25 acid chlorides and chloroformates using renewable electricity credits, covering all upstream raw material processes. The company said this transition has reduced the portfolio’ s product carbon footprint by an average of 19 %, supporting customers in advancing their Scope 3 emission-reduction efforts without changes to product specifications, certifications, or ordering processes.
Studsvik selects GVH and Samsung C & T for SMR project
Marco Sealing Solutions acquires Global O-Ring and Seal
Studsvik, GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy( GVH), and Samsung C & T are advancing a four-unit BWRX-300 small modular reactor project in Sweden with a combined capacity of approximately 1,200 MWe. The three companies, together with GE Vernova’ s Financial Services business and DS Investment Partners, a South Korean investment firm, have signed an exclusive agreement to develop the project under Studsvik’ s ReFirm nuclear program. The agreement covers a fixed exclusivity period that the parties may extend, and does not constitute a final investment decision or authorisation to construct. The project is planned for one of two Swedish sites: Studsvik’ s existing licensed nuclear facility in Nyköping, Sweden, or the Målma site in Valdemarsvik, Sweden. An application for the Valdemarsvik site was submitted in March 2026 under Sweden’ s new legislation requiring government approval for nuclear facilities at locations beyond the three existing plants. The first unit is expected to enter operation in the mid-2030s.
