AS-Schneider chooses cobots
Valve specialist AS-Schneider is setting its sights on assembly and collaborative robots ( cobots ) by cooperating with the Fraunhofer Institute Austria . Many work steps in the assembly are currently still carried out manually . A high number of variants and changing quantities preclude complete automation . However , the idea is that simple , monotonous , and repetitive tasks can be transferred to a collaborative robot . This would relieve employees and shorten lead times .
The use of cobots offers several advantages . The units are relatively small and can be easily integrated into processes . They are also mobile , and do not require a safety fence and can therefore be installed in a space-saving manner . Even an employee without programming knowledge can operate a cobot . In addition , the cobot is capable of learning and can be trained to perform several simple tasks , such as gripping and feeding .
Emerson : strategic investment in Spearix AGSL appoints Calder as CCO
Emerson ( EMR ) has made a strategic investment through Emerson Ventures , its corporate venture capital arm , in Spearix Technologies , Inc ., whose adaptive , multi-core radio processor provides a system-level solution for Industrial Internet of Things ( IIoT ) wireless communication . Emerson will support Spearix ’ s technology and early stage growth while expanding upon its own IIoT capabilities . In conjunction with the investment , Emerson
has also entered into an engineering collaboration agreement with Spearix . Based in Cedar Park , Texas , Spearix ’ s primary product offering is a multi-core radio processor and associated software that adapts to optimise performance and power based on measured environmental conditions . The technology greatly improves the connection reliability of industrial protocols while operating under heavy interference induced by high-power , high-bandwidth pervasive Wi-Fi operation . The investment will complement Emerson ’ s vision for WirelessHART and the evolution of its IIoT product portfolio .
Asset Guardian Solutions Limited ( AGSL ), the innovator in protecting Industrial Automation and Control Systems software , has appointed Stephanie Calder to the position of Chief Commercial Officer . In her
new role Calder will oversee all commercial aspects of the company , from marketing and lead generation , through business development and sales , to contract negotiations and awards . This is a significant expansion of AGSL , especially on the commercial side . It will prepare the company to move to the next level , providing significant growth within the company . In conjunction with this new role of CCO , AGSL has also restructured the entire company in order to be ready for the challenges ahead , in view of plans to more than double its turnover in the next three years .
