Velan secures agreement with GE Hitachi
North America ’ s first Small Modular Reactor ( SMR ) initiative . The agreement includes an initial order for advanced technology ,
engineering support and critical valves for the BWRX-300 SMR . The Main Services Agreement covers potential supply for three additional units at Darlington , scheduled for completion by 2034 . James A . Mannebach , Chairman and Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) of Velan , noted the project ’ s significance as the company approaches its 75th anniversary in 2025 . Laurent Pefferkorn , Executive Vice President of Velan , emphasised the project ’ s role in Canada ’ s clean energy strategy , highlighting the company ’ s contribution to sustainable energy development through SMR technology .
Aurora Energy Services expands with integrated services division
Aurora Energy Services has launched an integrated services division in Aberdeen for the oil and gas and renewables sectors . The company plans to recruit 30 project delivery specialists within six months to provide full lifecycle services .
Brothers Josh and Kane Winton , who have taken shareholding in Aurora , will head the new division . Kane joins from Global Design Innovation ( GDI ) with experience managing multi-million-pound projects across the UK and United
Arab Emirates ( UAE ), while Josh arrives from Petrofac , specialising in brownfield projects and remote visual asset inspection services . The division will focus on engineering design , procurement , installation , construction and decommissioning activities , including digital asset surveys . Aurora ’ s operations are supported by its training academy in Inverness , an in-house design and fabrication facility in Huntly , and collaboration with construction tooling specialist RenQuip .
SAMSON AG appoints new Chief Operations Officer
SAMSON AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT ’ s supervisory board has appointed Norbert Tollas as Chief Operations Officer ( COO ) and member of the executive board . Tollas , who joined SAMSON in 2016 , will continue to lead the operations unit , overseeing production , assembly , supply chain , sourcing and production innovations departments . Prior to joining SAMSON , he spent 29 years at Leybold Vakuum in Cologne , Germany , holding various leadership positions . Since joining SAMSON , Tollas has been responsible for optimising the value chain , implementing digital transformation in production and establishing an international production network .
