Hiller celebrates 60 years of valve actuation innovation
Burkert opens manufacturing facility in Pune
Hiller , part of Trillium Flow Technologies , marks 60 years since designing its first valve actuation products . Founded in 1950 by Ralph A . Hiller in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , USA , the company began manufacturing actuators for commercial nuclear power plants in 1966 . The Institute of Electrical Engineers ( IEEE ) successfully tested Hiller ’ s Main Steam Isolation Valve ( MSIV ) actuator in 1972 , followed by the 38- inch MSIV actuator in 1976 .
In the 2000s , Hiller achieved qualifications for its Advanced Boiling Water Reactor ( ABWR ) and NGC and NGP product ranges . The company ’ s current portfolio includes LP / LH linear pneumatic and hydraulic actuators , NGP / NGH quarter-turn actuators and NGC gas-charged hydraulic actuators , primarily used for main steam and feedwater isolation valves . Hiller joined Trillium Flow Technologies in 2019 .
Burkert Fluid Control Systems India Private Limited has established a new manufacturing facility in Talegaon MIDC Phase 2 , Pune , Maharashtra . The 4,645.15-square-metre facility includes testing , assembly and machining centres . The plant will manufacture mass flow controllers , angle seat valves , diaphragm valves and system solutions , with an annual capacity of 30,000 valves and 500
system sets . The company has completed technology transfer for several systems , including Zone 1 ATEX classification panels . Expected to employ 32 people by year-end with potential growth to 100 next year , the facility aims to achieve profitability by 2028 . The expansion brings production closer to local customers while supporting Burkert ’ s long-term growth objectives in India .
Baker Hughes supplies Masoneilan control valves
Baker Hughes has supplied Masoneilan valve systems to India ’ s first two residual hydrocrackers at HPCL Visakhapatnam Refinery and IOCL Panipat Refinery and Petrochemical Complex . The USD 10.3 million project utilises Chevron Lummus Global ’ s process technology . The installation includes Masoneilan 74000 Series Heavy Oil Process valves for critical high-pressure and lowpressure letdown processes , featuring ceramic trim for extreme conditions . The plants operate parallel valve systems for redundancy . Additional supplies include 71000 Series valves for pressure drop balancing , and 78400 Series LincolnLog and 21000 Series single port valves for smaller bore applications . The valve technology , developed in collaboration with the licensor , offers plug-andplay installation capabilities and supports the conversion of heavy materials into valuable hydrocarbons .
