IMI Delivers‘ Largest Production’ Choke Valves to Unmanned Production Platform in the North Sea
According to IMI, the company has delivered the largest production choke valves manufactured to a landmark unmanned processing platform in the North Sea.
The 100D DRAG ® multi-stage, multi-turn control valves, manufactured at the company’ s IMI CCI production facility in Austria, measure 20” x 20” and are rated to ASME 4500. With a design pressure of 686 barg, the valve body and bonnet comprise of forged ASTM A182 F22 Cl, while a full internal Inconel 625 weld overlay offers enhanced corrosion resistance.
“ Designed for use within an unmanned offshore platform, which itself presents a unique operational challenge, these valves are built to the highest quality standards that are essential to ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient production in remote environments,” explained Ronald Simon, Principal Engineer for Oil & Gas, and Valve Doctor, at IMI.
Leveraging the company’ s patented DRAG technology, the trim is made from solid tungsten carbide to provide durability in high-pressure, erosive service. Following the completion of factory acceptance testing, three 100D DRAG ® valves have now been delivered to the site.
Baker Hughes Secures Rio Grande LNG Expansion
Baker Hughes recently announced an award from engineering company Bechtel Energy Inc. to supply main liquefaction equipment for Train 4 of NextDecade’ s Rio Grande LNG Facility in the Port of Brownsville, Texas.
The award builds on a previously announced framework agreement for Baker Hughes’ gas turbine, refrigerant compressor technology, and contractual services agreements for Trains 4 through 8.
Replicating the technology solutions provided for the first three LNG trains, the Train 4 order includes two Frame 7 gas turbines and six centrifugal compressors. These advanced solutions deliver efficiency and lower emissions, supporting an additional LNG capacity of approximately 6 MTPA and enabling sustainable energy development.
" Our selection of Baker Hughes again for the Rio Grande LNG project is a testament to its reliable technology and expertise," said Bhupesh Thakkar, Bechtel’ s general manager for its LNG business. " Their equipment has consistently supported the successful development of this critical infrastructure, and we look forward to their continued contribution to the project expansion."
