TAINA ASILI With the support of this grant, Taina writes,“ I am committed to using my art to continue to confront and dismantle systems of gender-based violence and violence to our living planet, while inviting audiences to use our radical imaginations to envision and practice a world of gender and climate justice.” Her journey as an artist and activist has led her to collaborate with a multitude of gender justice organizations and initiatives, from participating in The Women’ s March on Washington to contributing to the NYC Pride Rally and Human Rights Conference. In 2019, she wrote the anthem " We Are Rising " for One Billion Rising. Through songwriting and performances, she’ s amplified the work of organizations working on issues related to climate justice, supporting organizations like UPROSE, The North Carolina Climate Justice Collective, The Solutions Project and The California Environmental Justice Alliance. Her new interdisciplinary show I am working on,-Fever Pitch- is, is the culmination of her artistic journey, addressing the intersectional issues related to the urgency of climate change and environmental violence.
